Every booking is your call

  • The card is held before you decide

Once your payouts are set up, a request reaches you when the customer's card is authorized on your own Stripe account. Accept and it is charged; decline and it is released.

  • One space, every way it is used

Separate offerings for work, events, production and pop-ups, each with its own layouts, capacity, prices, buffers and rules.

  • Never booked twice

One master calendar for the room under every offering, its sections and its shared equipment. A time taken one way is taken every way.

  • No monthly fee

Listing, quotes, site visits, the calendar, add-ons and analytics are included. Holuway takes a share of what you are paid by card, and nothing else.

Holuway Spaces is built for how rooms are really rented: by the hour, by the day, by the event, with your yes on each one.

One booking, step by step

From a request to a booked time

One sample booking at a sample venue, as the customer and the host see it.

  1. On your space's page they see each activity with its layouts, capacity, rates and cancellation policy, then choose a date and time.

    Before
Your space is published on Holuway Spaces with its activities and rates.
    What happens
The customer chooses an activity, a date, a time and how many people.
    After
They send a request saying what it is for.
  2. Each request shows who is asking, what it is for, the time, the people and the price, with the card held once your payouts are set up.

    Before
The customer has sent a request.
    What happens
It arrives in your Space bookings with an answer-by time.
    After
Answer in time, or the request lapses and the time is freed.
  3. Accept and the card is charged; decline and the hold is released. The booking takes its time on the space's calendar, with setup and cleanup blocked for you.

    Before
The request waits for your answer.
    What happens
    You accept, or decline.
    After
Accepted, the booking is on the calendar with its setup and cleanup time. Declined or lapsed, the customer pays nothing.

Analytics

Know what is working.

Questions, site visits, quotes accepted, how fast you answer, requests accepted and lapsed, money by activity and month, and how much of each space's open time is booked. Every number counts your own records.

  • Holuway's fee shown beside what you were paid
  • Use of each space on the venue's own days
  • Add-on revenue, by add-on

How listing works

  1. 01

    Create your host account

Sign up as a host. Your workspace is made for you; invite your team when you want.

  2. 02

Add your place and its spaces

The address, then each room or hall: its size, ceiling, occupancy, amenities, accessibility and photos.

  3. 03

    Choose how it is booked

For each activity: layouts and capacities, shortest and longest booking, notice, setup and cleanup time, hourly and day rates, evening and weekend rates, and the cancellation policy.

  4. 04

    Publish

Confirm you have the right to rent it out and that the activities are allowed there. Set up payouts with Stripe to take cards.

  5. 05

    Answer requests and questions

Accept or decline requests, answer questions, confirm site visits and send custom quotes.

From an account to your first booking, in the same managing area Holuway hosts use for homes and stays.

Everything else a venue needs

  • Add-ons

Equipment, services, catering and staff, priced per booking, hour or person, and counted against what you have.

  • Pop-ups by the day

Rent out a space by whole days and weeks with your own license agreement, which the customer accepts before booking.

  • Site visits

People ask to see the space at a free time; a confirmed visit holds that half hour on the calendar.

  • Repeating bookings

Weekly or every other week, from 2 to 26 dates, one card hold for the series and every date priced.

  • Verified reviews

Only a customer whose booking happened can review it, once. You can reply once, in public.

  • Your team

Invite people with the access they need, in the same workspace as any homes or stays you run.

In the same place as your bookings, with nothing extra to buy.

Spaces

What it costs

One commission on what customers pay you by card. Nothing to pay before you are booked.

12%of each booking paid by card

  • Monthly fee: $0. Listing, the calendar, messages and every tool on this page are included.
  • Guests pay the price you set. Holuway adds no service fee of its own to what they pay.
  • Holuway takes its part only when a card payment is charged, from that payment, and gives its share back in proportion when you refund.
  • Card processing is charged by Stripe to your own Stripe account at its standard rate (2.9% + $0.30 for a US card), as with any card payment you take.
  • Until your payouts are set up, guests can still ask to book and you arrange payment with them yourself. Those bookings carry no Holuway fee.

How a request runs

  1. 1The guest has 30 minutes to finish the card step; until then nothing reaches you and the time is held for them.
  2. 2You have 48 hours to answer. Confirm and the card is charged; decline or let it lapse and the hold is released.

Questions hosts ask

What kinds of spaces can I list?

Meeting, conference and training rooms, private offices, coworking areas, event halls, ballrooms, rooftops, gardens, galleries, private dining rooms, lofts, photo, film, podcast and recording studios, kitchen studios, houses, warehouses, storefronts and showrooms. One space can be offered for work, events, production and pop-ups at once, each on its own terms.

Does it cost anything to list?

There is no monthly fee and nothing to pay to list. Holuway takes its commission from each booking paid by card when the card is charged. The current figure is under What it costs on this page.

Do I have to accept every booking?

You decide each one. A booking is either a request you accept or decline, or a quote you sent that the customer accepts.

When is the customer charged?

Their card is held when they ask, on your own Stripe account, and charged when you accept. If you decline, or do not answer in time, the hold is released. An accepted quote is charged when it is accepted.

How do I get paid?

Payments are taken on your organization's Stripe account, which you connect from Payouts in the managing area. Stripe pays out to your bank on your account's schedule.

Can I keep my other calendars?

Yes. Import a space's calendar from Google, Outlook or another booking site by its address, and give that site the space's own export. A calendar that stops syncing is flagged and you are emailed.

What do I need to publish?

Photos, at least one offering with a price, and two confirmations: that you have the right to rent the space out, and that the activities you offer are allowed there with the capacities you set.

What if a customer cancels?

They are refunded by the policy the booking was made under: flexible, moderate or strict, the one you chose for that offering. If you cancel, the customer is refunded in full.

Your space, booked the way you run it.

Create your host account, add your place and its spaces, and publish when the checklist is complete.
