Ask to book with your card held

Your card is held, not charged, while the host decides. You are charged only if they accept; otherwise the hold is released.

Every space booking is a request the host accepts. While they decide, the time is held for you.

Hold your card

When the host takes cards on Holuway, Continue to the card opens Hold your card.

  1. Step 1Enter your card. Card details go straight to Stripe; Holuway never sees them.
  2. Step 2Select the button that holds the total and sends the request.
  3. Step 3Finish within 30 minutes to keep the time. The host sees your request only once the card is held.

The host has up to 48 hours to answer, and the booking page says by when. If they accept, your card is charged. If they decline or do not answer in time, the hold is released and nothing is charged.

Note: Selected Finish later? Open Your bookings, open the request and select Finish the card step.

When payment is arranged with the host

Some hosts do not take cards on Holuway yet. Then you select Send request, nothing is charged on Holuway, and you pay the host directly once they accept. The booking shows Paid to the host directly.

Where do I follow my request?

Open Your bookings on the Spaces site. A request shows Waiting for the host until they answer, and you also get an email.

What about a refundable deposit?

If a space shows one, it is arranged with the host. It is not charged on Holuway.

Can I take back a request?

Yes. Open it and select Withdraw request. The host is told and any hold on your card is released.
